Yarn Choice: I made my ghost with acrylic yarn because it’s what I had available, but you can absolutely use whatever type you prefer. Cotton, acrylic, or chunky yarn all work beautifully for this project. Just be aware that if you go with chunky yarn, your ghost will end up quite large!

Finished Size: Using a 5mm hook, your completed Halloween ghost (hat included) will stand about 9 inches tall following this free pattern.

Creating Indents: Those bottom indents can be a bit tricky for some crocheters. The technique involves using a running stitch (basic hand sewing) and then gently pulling the yarn to create the indent shape. This might not work well if you’re using yarn that breaks easily, so choose something with good tensile strength for this part.
